Dynamic rhythmic skills on junk instruments

Based on the stunning performances of Stomp, we develop rhythmic awareness and sequencing skills, using broomsticks, bouncing balls, paper, cardboard, polythene – and the kitchen sink if we can find one!

This work demands great focus and awareness of others in the group, and delivers the excitement and satisfaction of shared composition and performance. We will also use video clips of Stomp, small group work, body percussion, vocal sounds, pitched percussion and found instruments brought in by the children.

Differentiated for all levels within KS2, Bang It! can last from an hour to a day, or a series of sessions over days or weeks. The outcome is a performance of the pieces produced.
